Updating a classic three storey Georgian house in Putney, London

A classic London, three storey Georgian house that needed bringing up to date to suit the professional owners and their three teenage children. Ground floor room layouts were altered to suit the family’s current needs which meant dividing one large open room to create two reception rooms – a kids TV room with bold colours and comfy furniture to the front of the house and a calm adults Drawing Room in pastel shades overlooking the garden at the rear. A contemporary kitchen and informal dining area were reinvented along with a casual sitting area. The whole house was redecorated, re-carpeted and refurnished to give a fresh, modern finish whilst still respecting the period features.

For 2022 it was time to give the youngest family members bedroom a make-over to take him through the rest of his school years and into University. Up in the roof, we had to design some rather clever (and complicated) bespoke joinery to make best use of the eaves and angles, to create everyday storage for clothes, but also to allow plenty of display space for those all-important treasures. The key to this whole room was the prized skateboard which we mounted on the wall and highlighted with multicoloured LED lights to enhance it.
A funky chair for chilling was included and a large comfortable bed with oversized headboard and cushions add luxury to this end of the room, completed by smart contemporary oak bedside tables and modern bronze table lamps. An uber cool bedroom for a cool young man!
