THURLESTONE, South Devon

The owners of this incredible house have been coming to South Devon for years and years and were on the lookout for a sea-view site on which to build their dream, contemporary home – the brief was ‘beach-chic’. I had the pleasure of being involved from the very start of this project and worked closely with the architect, Stopher Designs in Kingsbridge who designed this amazing house. Every inch of joinery, ironmongery, electrical details, flooring, furnishings and colour was carefully considered to finish the house to an incredibly high standard. To take advantage of the stunning sea views, the large open plan living space is on the first floor, along with a Study, TV room and Cloakroom and then six ensuite Bedrooms and a very practical Boot Room are on the ground floor. A central pillar runs through the core of the house which is painted in a deep teal colour, this set the colour schemes for the whole house. As you approach this strong wall from the Entrance Hall you can turn either left to the seating areas or right into the simple but stunning kitchen area designed by Treyone in Liskeard. Either way you complete the circle of the space and whichever route you choose the view is unveiled before you and then you know exactly why they chose this spot.
